Oklahoma handed top-ranked Texas its first loss of the season Saturday, winning 27-24 on a field goal as time expired in the Red River rivalry game.
Tate Sandell made the 47-yard kick at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Oklahoma had intercepted Arch Manning with 19 seconds remaining, and quarterback John Mateer completed two throws before the game-winning attempt.
Two Oklahoma touchdowns came from its defense and special teams. Dakoda Fields fell on a blocked punt in the end zone, while Peyton Bowen took an interception back 42 yards for a score. Manning threw three touchdown passes for Texas.
The Sooners improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Southeastern Conference, claiming the Golden Hat trophy. Texas fell to 4-1 and 1-1. Oklahoma had not beaten a No. 1-ranked team since 2007.
