Elon Musk’s SpaceXAI has agreed to appear before the New York City Council’s Committee on Technology on Friday at 10 a.m., the Council says. The company had missed an earlier hearing after receiving a subpoena.
Council Speaker Julie Menin sought voluntary testimony in September from five major AI companies. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Meta agreed to appear; SpaceXAI did not. Menin issued a subpoena on Sept. 28, but the company did not attend the Council’s nearly 10-hour hearing on Oct. 5.
After that hearing, Council officials told SpaceXAI they intended to seek a state Supreme Court order compelling its appearance. The company asked to meet with officials on Oct. 7 and later agreed to testify. The Council has not said who will appear on SpaceXAI’s behalf.
