The White Sox beat the Guardians 4-3 in Cleveland in Game 2 of the American League Division Series, taking a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five matchup.

Chicago fell behind early when reliever Sean Newcomb's errant throw to first helped Cleveland score twice in the opening inning. The Sox turned the game around with three runs in the sixth. Miguel Vargas singled and scored, and Braden Montgomery drove in two runs with a two-out double off left-hander Erik Sabrowski that put Chicago ahead for good.

Sean Burke steadied the Sox after the difficult first inning, working until two outs in the eighth. He allowed his first hit after 5⅓ innings. The Guardians cut the lead to one run on a Joe Adell triple, but Brenton Doyle caught Patrick Bailey's deep drive at the center-field wall to end the game.

The series now moves to Rate Field for its first playoff game in five years. Chicago needs one more win to reach its first AL Championship Series in 21 years.
