Goldee’s BBQ received a Michelin star on Thursday, Oct. 8, becoming the first restaurant in Fort Worth to earn one.

The award recognizes a business that opened in February 2020 after years of collaboration among friends from Arlington. Its founders — Nupohn Inthanousay, Lane Milne, Jalen Heard, Dylan Taylor and Jonny White — grew close at Martin High School. Between 2013 and 2014, they developed an interest in Texas craft barbecue while working at different restaurants in Austin.

Inthanousay, one of Goldee’s four current owners, credited the staff for the recognition. The other owners are Milne, Heard and Zain Shafi.

Joel Vienneau and Martin Hamel, visitors from Quebec on a barbecue trip through Louisiana and Texas, were waiting outside Goldee’s at 8:30 a.m. that day. They had not expected their stop to coincide with a first for the city.
