North Shore blocked a potential game-tying extra point in the final minute and recovered an onside kick to beat Summer Creek 28-27 on Friday night at Turner Stadium.
The Mustangs had trailed 21-7 in the third quarter. Senior quarterback Ja’Voris Taylor threw two touchdown passes during the comeback, and Kaden Brandley’s 5-yard run put North Shore ahead with 1:20 left. Amari Louisville added a two-point conversion to make it 28-21.
Summer Creek answered when Caleb White returned the kickoff 64 yards to the North Shore 11. Braylin Causey scored on the next play, but the blocked kick kept the Bulldogs from tying the game. White had also returned a missed field goal 107 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter and made an interception.
North Shore improved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in District 17-6A, extending its winning streak to 13 games. Summer Creek fell to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in district play.
