Seattle police are investigating a report that a woman tried to lure three first-grade students away from Alki Elementary School during recess Thursday morning.
The children said the woman approached them near the playground fence around 9:15 a.m., told them she had a crown in her car and asked them to come see it. None went with her; they reported the encounter to school staff.
School faculty did not witness the reported encounter, police said. Police believe the woman left in a silver car. Seattle Public Schools said it is working with police on the investigation and will increase vigilance during recess, arrival and dismissal.
