Harbor Health has agreed to buy 27 Village Medical clinics in Greater Houston, with the deal expected to close by the end of 2026.
The locations serve Harris, Montgomery, Fort Bend and Brazoria counties. Harbor says they will keep the Village Medical name and are expected to continue accepting their current insurance plans. Existing patients will not need to take action because of the ownership change.
Harbor plans to make the clinics a primary care home for Houston members who choose its insurance plans. Once the deal closes, Houston would be the fifth Texas market where the company offers both care and insurance, alongside Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and El Paso. Harbor expects to operate nearly 70 clinics across Texas after the purchase.
The company plans to open enrollment for 2027 individual and family coverage through HealthCare.gov on November 1 in 13 Texas counties, with coverage set to begin January 1.
