Two people were shot dead outside a home on Lindale Street in north Houston on Monday morning. The woman was 29-year-old Dariela Cardona, her father said; the man killed alongside her has not been publicly identified.
Houston police said the shooting stemmed from a domestic violence incident involving Cardona’s ex-boyfriend. Investigators took a man into custody near Dayton after receiving community tips and using Flock cameras, police said. No charges had been filed by the time of the report.
Cardona, a mother of two boys, was killed outside the house where she grew up. Neighbor Patricia Flores said she had known Cardona’s family for years and also knew the man police say was involved in the shooting. Flores described a neighborhood where residents have known each other for years.
