Takiyah Rochelle Babers, 19, faces a murder charge after her 4-month-old daughter was found dead in a dumpster in South Los Angeles on Monday night.
The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office also charged Babers with assault on a child causing death. Authorities said she was arrested within hours of the discovery near Alba Street and Long Beach Avenue. Firefighters took the baby to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A Thursday afternoon arraignment was postponed, and Babers has not entered a plea, said Najee Ali, an advocate for her foster parents. She is being held on $2 million bail.
