Austin and Colton Paulhus, co-founders of Anchored Tiny Homes, face 35 criminal counts filed by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors allege the brothers conspired to violate state law and diverted money paid by more than 30 customers for accessory dwelling units.
The complaint alleges customers paid about $1,046,433 for projects on which no work was done and no materials were supplied. In 2024, Bay Area customers reported paying tens of thousands of dollars upfront before their projects were abandoned. The company later failed, and the state revoked its license.
In Oakland, customer Alan Miller said his family was out $80,000 after its unit was left half-built; his case is included in the complaint. San Leandro customer Katie Lucas said she had been waiting for criminal charges.
