Driver booked after fatal Chatsworth crash
Los Angeles police arrested a 36-year-old Simi Valley woman after a collision involving her SUV and an LA Metro bus in Chatsworth left two people dead and six others hurt.
Police said Bailee Lynn Rios was booked Tuesday night on suspicion of murder and is being held on $4 million bail. The case was sent to the district attorney’s office, which will decide what charges, if any, are filed in court.
Authorities said the crash happened after Rios drove the wrong way on a busy avenue, went through a red light and hit another vehicle before striking the bus. Police said one bus passenger was fully ejected and another was partially ejected.
About two hours later, a television news helicopter covering the bus crash went down in a separate fatal accident.
