Prosecutors filed a second-degree murder charge against a 36-year-old woman after a Chatsworth crash that left two bus passengers dead.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said Bailee Lynn Rios also faces counts of driving under the influence and reckless driving. Authorities allege she was driving a gray 2004 Ford Expedition southbound in the northbound lanes of De Soto Avenue when she went through a red light at Nordhoff Street and struck the side of a bus.
The crash happened Tuesday and injured six other people, prosecutors said. The county Medical Examiner later named the two people who died as 31-year-old Gage Weida and 46-year-old Daniel Castillo.
Authorities have not publicly established the case in court. The filing lays out what prosecutors say happened before the collision and the charges they intend to pursue.
