The family of a Tamarac woman allegedly killed by her son is seeking answers while he faces a first-degree murder charge.
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded Friday to a stabbing report near the 5300 block of Northwest 28th Avenue. They found Ylda Cabello-Ynocente with stab wounds; she was pronounced dead. Her son, Manuel Farfan-Cabello, was charged with first-degree murder and denied bond at a Sunday court appearance.
Relatives said Farfan-Cabello had struggled with severe mental illness for years. Cabello-Ynocente’s sister-in-law, Rocio, said he had received treatment for schizophrenia and often experienced hallucinations. Detectives are investigating what led to her death.
Rocio wants to bring Cabello-Ynocente’s remains to Peru, where much of the family lives. Peru’s consul general and deputy in Miami said they had contacted the family and would help arrange the return.
