Los Angeles police have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a Culver City bus driver in Mar Vista. Police said the driver, a man around 40, died after being taken to a hospital.
The shooting happened around 5:15 p.m. near South Centinela and Mitchell avenues, police said. Investigators reported that four people, including the driver and suspect, were aboard the bus. Witnesses told officers a passenger argued with the driver over a missed turn, then took a gun from a backpack and shot him.
Investigators said the suspect left the bus and retrieved his bicycle before officers arrived. City staff suspended bus service through the weekend to give employees time to grieve. Mayor Freddy Puza mourned the driver as a valued member of the Culver City workforce.
