Mandatory evacuation orders cover three zones near Santa Clarita as firefighters battle the Bouquet Fire in the Angeles National Forest.
Officials changed warnings for zones LAC-E018 and LAC-E031 to orders and added an order for LAC-E030. A shelter for affected residents is open at the Castaic Sports Complex. Authorities have requested closures along Bouquet Canyon Road.
The fire began Saturday afternoon in the Bouquet Canyon Road area, northeast of Santa Clarita. It was reported at about 2:30 p.m. in the 34800 block. At the latest reported check, the blaze had burned more than 1,000 acres and was 40% contained. Ground crews and aircraft are working near threatened structures.
The cause remains unknown. Authorities have not specified how many residents are covered by the orders or the full extent of any damage to structures.
