New video shows an SUV hitting a parked car on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, killing Nobu Malibu chef Ryo Uchimiya, who was sleeping inside. The impact sent his car into another parked vehicle.
The crash happened around 7 a.m. Saturday near Carbon Canyon Road. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Uchimiya, 51, had arrived early for work and was waiting in his car outside the restaurant.
Authorities said the SUV driver was a 16-year-old boy. Sheriff’s Sgt. John Addington said the driver appeared to have been speeding. No charges had been filed, and the investigation was continuing. Authorities had not publicly named the driver.
