The Golden State Valkyries swept the Las Vegas Aces out of the 2026 WNBA playoffs in the second round, ending their bid for another title after three championships in four seasons.
Las Vegas had the league’s third-best record and beat the Indiana Fever in the opening round. A’ja Wilson won her third straight MVP award and fifth overall, leading the WNBA with 26.2 points per game. Jackie Young averaged career highs of 18.9 points and 6.8 assists.
Those results set a high bar, but the early exit makes the season a disappointment by the Aces’ championship standards. Coach Becky Hammon said after the sweep that the team’s defense had not been good enough to win a title. Las Vegas now faces questions about how long it can remain a championship contender.
