Daniel Couch, 30, was reported missing from his court-ordered home detention location after monitoring indicated he left on Sunday, the Community Corrections Division said.
Couch is charged with second-degree malicious mischief over damage to a King County Metro Route 7 bus on July 2 in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District. Prosecutors allege he used a machete after the driver refused to let him board while armed. Court records describe two shattered side windows and a cracked windshield; the bus was taken out of service, temporarily interrupting Metro service. Couch pleaded not guilty on July 9.
A judge approved temporary electronic home detention on Sept. 15 so Couch could receive treatment. The division said he did not respond when a caseworker tried to reach him. An Oct. 12 court entry says he left his required residence without an approved pass. The court will decide what happens next, potentially including an arrest warrant. Couch’s whereabouts remain unknown.
