Four hospitalized after rig collapse in Brickell
Four people were taken to a hospital with minor injuries after a drilling rig collapsed onto several cars Monday morning in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood, according to Miami Fire Rescue.
Fire Rescue said crews responded just after 8:30 a.m. to Brickell Bay Drive and Southeast 12th Street. One of the vehicles caught fire, and part of Brickell Bay Drive was closed after the collapse.
Officials said the injured included three construction workers and a driver. Miami Fire Rescue Chief Robert Hevia said two construction workers, ages 27 and 29, were trapped after the rig came down onto a construction box before crews got them out.
