Four people were hospitalized after a drilling rig collapsed onto several vehicles in Miami’s Brickell area Monday morning, and one SUV caught fire.
Miami Fire Rescue said crews were sent to Brickell Bay Drive and Southeast 12th Street just after 8:30 a.m. Three construction workers and one driver were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The collapse happened at a construction site and left two workers trapped, according to Miami Fire Rescue Chief Robert Hevia. He said the two workers were ages 27 and 29 and were inside a construction box when the rig came down.
Officials said the rig fell onto several cars. No other injuries were reported in the information released from the scene.
